***NOVICE CLASS*** With the growing interest in our novice class we have decided that with each event we will have lighter options available for those who may not be experienced enough to lift the minimum weights. We want everyone to be successful and able to take part. This is the whole point of having a “novice class”. So if you are hesitant on wether or not you are “strong enough” to take part don’t let that hold you back. We got you! Also the novice class is intended for beginners. If you’re an experienced athlete this class is not for you.

Max Deadlift

Athletes must lift the bar from the floor to lockout until given the “DOWN” signal from the official. This event will be in a rising bar format. A set weight will be loaded to the bar and each successful athlete will advance to the next weight . Athlete may skip a weight but once you fail you cannot go back down. Belt(soft and hard) , straps (standard and figure 8) are allowed . Deadlift suits are not allowed. Deadlift bar and calibrated plates will be used

EVENT 2 

Yoke into Log Athletes will carry a loaded yoke 50ft and then proceed to clean and press a Log for three reps. You may drop the yoke as many times as you need. Log must be cleaned from the floor and pressed to a full controlled lockout overhead until given the “DOWN” signal from the official. No dropping the log from overhead. Time limit 75 seconds

Event 3

Mariners medley Farmers/sandbag/sled drag

Athletes will take each implement 50ft across a line. Implementations must be done in the order listed. If your drop an implement your may pick it up again within the time limit. Time limit 90 seconds. The score will be judged by distance and time of implements completed. Chalk is allowed. No other grip aids are allowed.

Event 4
Sandbag throw

Athletes will throw a sandbag from behind a line as far as they can. If an athlete crosses the line their throw is disqualified. The sandbag must be throw facing the line. The distance will be measured from the line to where the sandbag lands. Chalk is allowed. Weights to be determined

Event 5

Stone Over Bar

Each athlete will have 1 minute to attempt to lift the stone over a bar. Successful athletes will advance to the next round. There will be 3 stones for each class increasing in weight . If multiple athletes get to the final weight they will go head to head last man/woman standing in a stone off. In case of a stone off athletes will have 30seconds to lift the stone over the bar. Tacky is allowed.
